The Wheel turns, and on the Cross-Quarter day of Lughnasadh,

the Lord leads the funerial games of horse racing and martial arts.
The Celtic tale of this day is that Lugh's foster mother Tailtiu
had the forest of Meath razed to open the fertile field to farming.
The razing of this great forest broke Her heart and so She died, asking Lugh as She lay on Her death bed to lead the funeral games
in Her honor.
In other Pagan traditions the Green Man is sacrificed, marking this the first of three harvests.
This Sabbat begins the Lord's half of the year.
